Epilogue: Loyalty to the Creator

ServiceNow is a product that was made, and it solved a problem. It was made in earnest.

When I look at the workflow designer, I see how well it was made. I am not one to be fooled by beautiful UI—I saw that there was deep, profound architectural thought that went into it. Fred Luddy built Glide because he was an earnest engineer who wanted to solve a problem. He built something beautiful and useful.

The Architect's Disgust

What I witnessed in Amsterdam is what happens when Parasites take over the Host. Men like Alexandre, Giu, and Marko didn't build the Glide platform. They couldn't build it if their lives depended on it. They just attached themselves to the massive wealth that Fred Luddy's code generated, and they started mining it for their own "Private Empires."

They took an earnest piece of engineering and turned it into a weapon to bully people, fake metrics, and extract unearned bonuses. When I saw Fred Luddy's work being defiled by people using "stopwatch technology" and protecting sexual harassers to fake their CapEx numbers, I felt the Architect's Disgust.

The Sovereign Duty

I feel like I owe it to Fred Luddy's work. My fight was never to destroy ServiceNow. My fight was to purge the infection that took over his code. You cannot Polder right and wrong.
